Wow, a 40,000 mile journey from Alaska to Argentina! Sounds like an awesome, inspiring adventure to read about doesn't it? Well, don't waste your time. The author missed a huge opportunity to write a book about an epic journey and instead he only wrote little snippets about each country he traversed and left some countries out of the book all together.Much of this book consisted of bland stories about experiences at border crossings or run of the mill "touristy" stuff encountered along the way. When the author did write about specific events, he did so only briefly and left me wondering about them more than learning about them.A book like this should make the reader feel as if he/she is kind of riding shotgun along the way, but this book missed the mark entirely. I am a fickle reader. I will start a book, get the gist of it in the first few chapters, then leave it and go on to something else. It takes an extraordinary book by an extraordinary writer to keep my attention for fiction or non-fiction. I can't put down Dan's stuff. Whenever I pick up one of his writings, I am riveted to the end. His writing is entertaining and relatable, while being educational and inspiring at the same time.
